Many people have a love/hate relationship with basketball. None more controversial than AAU/Showcase basketball. Most youth basketball fans and players, are excited for the Spring season to be able to travel and play against good competition! Having coached at different levels, I’d say, AAU can be a Dream!

This year’s HL 17U Premier team features some really good guards. We are guard heavy, it makes us tough to guard. We need more games where everyone is playing well. This group is hilarious! Corde Jenkins is playing with loads of confidence. Ethan Wilson is pretty good! Yusef Salih is coming into his own. Jordan Johnson sparks this group. Manny White is becoming more confident offensively in his playmaking at this level. 17U Travel ball presents a challenge every game. The kids we have, have displayed tremendous growth in the previous 2 months. Like most, our practices are tough, physical, and we really challenge the guys with game time teaching and breakdown. We follow up a number of our practices with in depth film sessions, where we begin to understand details.

With the changes made by the NCAA, we are unfazed. We are set to compete in 12 events this Summer. We normally take the month of June, completely off. No No No, not this group! They are playing too well. We will keep it going. The travel season is stressful, but is very beneficial, yet rewarding for myself and staff. The coach/player relationships are great and a group of parents that trust the process, of developing, daily.
