“Run your own race” is a term we use to encourage focus, on your path, and not the person next to you.
We are in the Information Age. Everything is ready, available, and right at our fingertips for our viewing and leisure! With sports being paramount, and social media platforms constantly running workout videos, game highlights and interviews, by nature, we tend to want to see ourselves on the screen in the same light as others.
The competitor in all of us tends to compete and compare our abilities and accomplishments to others. When we compare ourselves to others, we remove the joy from our own efforts/accomplishments. What we have done is not enough! In this action we also take for granted the very gifts that God has granted us, individuality.
No 2 kids are alike. No 2 paths will be identical. You are not owed the same rights of path as someone else. We are all unique, special in our own way! Once we eliminate the comparisons, we starve jealousy. When focused, your heart doesn’t feel envy. Just being yourself will be enough to create an inspiring story!
